The California Nursery Conference was held in Watsonville, California on October 25th. Seventy-five attendees listened to 12 presentations on diseases, pests, weeds, water quality, online training, and laws and regulations. We were fortunate to have Dr. Sarah White, associate professor of horticulture in the Plant and Environmental Sciences Department at Clemson University, on the program who presented her research on biological water treatment systems. Other speakers included Keane Goh (California Department of Pesticide Regulation),Walter Mayeda (County of Santa Cruz Agricultural Commissioner’s Office), Karen Suslow (NORS DUC) and eight UC speakers (Jim Bethke, Matthew Daughtry, Dave Fujino, John Kabashima, Loren Oki, Laura Sims, Steve Tjosvold and Cheryl Wilen).
